Gesäuse Photo School

Gesäuse Photo School

Click click – that’s the sound of the Gesäuse.

The Gesäuse National Park's untouched nature draws photographers from all over the world. But how to take a shot of the wood grouse during their courtship display? The Gesäuse Photo School to the rescue! The school will not only teach you how to photograph the wildlife, but also how to stage nature, light, shadow and the starry sky in order to put everything into perspective.

Where in Europe can you find the most beautiful starry sky, amazing forest scenery and wild animals such as wood grouse, black grouse and deer all in one place? There’s only one answer to this question: in the Gesäuse National Park! But it’s not just that you can photograph all these amazing subjects, you can do it in the company of a professional photographer and sometimes even a professional hunter. The best thing about it? You will always be in the right place at the right time.

Taking photos of the outside world

Wildlife aside, the Gesäuse is generally very photogenic. With one of the darkest night skies in Europe the region is a true paradise for those who want to experiment with their camera’s time exposure and take amazing photos of the starry sky. During the daytime the professional photographers take you on a tour through the untouched nature in order to open up your eyes to new motifs, compositions and light conditions. Afterwards, the editing and reviewing of the pictures goes hand in hand with a glass of Gesäuse wine before it’s back to the outside world again the next day. No need to say that fun is guaranteed.

Kaiserau is, quite simply, the place to be – the high plateau is easy to reach and popular with mountain lovers, walkers, visitors and locals alike. The area offers something for the whole family – kids can watch the horses and cows that make Kaiserau their summer spot, while grown ups can have a coffee at Sportalm restaurant or chat away on one of the comfy benches. There’s always something to do at the high plateau.
